Italy continues to lead in food and beverage

Eating out of home is a pleasure, but even a relevant business, which in Italy accounts for € 75 billion every year, or 35% of total food spending. A study conducted by Bocconi University for Host Milano, the international hospitality exhibition taking place in Milan from October 20th to 24th, remarks that economic crisis did reduce overall family budgets, but didn’t undermine the habit of having lunch or dinner at restaurants or pizzerias.

325 thousand food service businesses managed to innovate their offering in the last years, focusing first of all on typicality and specialties, but also on multifunctionality, that is the possibility to differentiate food and beverage according to daytime or weekdays, addressing a wider and more varied audience.

One of the most interesting trends is the rise of mobile restaurants (street food), which nowadays has about 150 thousand active touchpoints, and luxury restaurants, driven by star chefs and the ability to create synergies with hôtellerie.

Creativity did balance the traditional vulnerability of the Italian hospitality system. Differently from other European countries, in Italy most restaurants are micro companies and family businesses, which struggle to grow as they limitedly leverage marketing and technology levers.

Movibell is one of the most innovative platforms for digital marketing. Through the mobile app it becomes possible to reach and engage with anyone passing close to the restaurant, reminding of the daily specialty or menu, offering a taste or inviting to an event. Movibell makes mobile proximity marketing really simple, with the opportunity to interact not only with occasional customers, but also with customers to be made more loyal.

You only need a few clicks to create your own Channel with the restaurant profile, then start publishing contents such as texts, pictures and videos ... and dialogue with people moving about 200 meters far from the food court and likely to taste your plates.
